Dasman Model School

In 1995, a group of academics, interested in the quality of education founded Kuwait Pearl Institute for Model Education ( a stock holding company with a paid-up capital of KD 800,000), which went on to create the Dasman Model School in 1996. At the time of its establishment, the investors' aim was to build a high quality educational institution which provides bilingual curriculum to both mainstream and special needs students – the first of its kind in Kuwait and maybe the Middle East .

The school offers an American Curriculum as well as meeting Ministry requirements in Arabic and Islamic studies and is fully accredited by CIS and NEASC. Dasman Model School offers classes from KG level up till Grade 12 for 1190 students. The students are offered specialist lessons in music, computer, swimming and PE.

The Elementary Division, grades 1-5, continues the bilingual programme with homeroom teachers concentrating on language, arts, science and mathematics. All other subjects are taught by specialist subject teachers.

The Middle School Division programme, grades 6-8, is taught purely by specialist teachers.

The High School Division (grades 9-12) is organized entirely around university preparation standards. Students are offered a wide selection of courses including those at AP level. Dasman has a fully self-contained Special Needs Department within the main school. This department is fully licensed by the State of Kuwait for Special Educational Needs. Students are taught in small classes by highly qualified specialist teachers and follow individual programs. The Department has the services also of three fully trained speech therapists, a physiotherapist, an education psychologist and a counselor on site. It strives to maintain close links with regular education and ESL classes. The older Special Needs students move on into vocational training.

Action Group Holdings (AGH) had a stake in the company/school since its inception, and in 2006, achieved a majority shareholder interest based on its resolute belief in the need to invest in education and further the growth of the nation's most valuable asset: its human capital. Dasman offers something unique as it is the only school in Kuwait which offers both mainstream and special needs education on a bilingual basis, at the same location. The school is further licensed to offer job training and rehabilitation for the special needs students. There is also room for expanding its capacity, which is an important consideration given that local demographics point towards a growing market segment.
